The Don Bosco Konkan Development Society (KDS) has been appointed as the Collaborative Organization for the implementation of the Childline 1098 in South Goa, by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India. Childline India Foundation (CIF) is the Mother NGO, responsible for the running of Childline services across India. The Childline network is currently spread over 462 locations across the country. KDS will work with CIF to implement the Childline Project in South Goa.
The Childline service is a 24 hours emergency free phone outreach service, linking children in distress and children in exploitative situations to organizations run by Govt. departments as well as those run by civil society agencies. Any child or a concerned adult can dial the number 1098 to connect to Childline services in their city.
On 6th Oct. 2018, Don Bosco Konkan Development Society Childline team attended a training programme at the Nodal CHILDLINE office, Nirmala Education Society, Altinho, Panaji – Goa. It was organized by the Nodal Childline Officer, Sr. Divya Raphael.
The agenda for the training session was: methods of counselling and child friendly police protocols.
The South Goa Childline Contact Centre will become operational this month and the KDS Childline Team is gearing up to be a caring and committed Crisis Intervention Centre (CIC) for children in need of care and protection.
