DON BOSCO ACTION INDIA NETWORK started the Sustained Income for Rural Women through Entrepreneurial Activities and Social Empowerment Project in 2015 wherein women in rural areas of Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra are provided with livelihood training. Some of the trades they are trained in include food processing, agriculture, vegetable farming, vermi composting, making incense sticks, paper plates, phenyl liquid, hard brooms, doormats and other trades.
The training equips them with technical as well as finance and marketing skills, and these skills enable them to contribute to the household income. As part of this project, social justice awareness programmes like gender equality, property rights, domestic violence, physical harassment, child marriage rights and exploitation and child labour laws were conducted.
A Survey was conducted by Ms. Aneesha Avrachan Project Manager and Ms. Marcelina Kujur from BoscoNet Delhi. along with Mr. Vijay Borase Regional Coordinator, for Don Bosco Konkan Development Society. The objective of this survey was to analyse the impact of the Project since its inception 4 years ago. The Survey was conducted between 8th and 10th April 2019 in Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg & North Goa Districts.
The Report on the Survey will be published soon.
